Does Money Really Motivate You?

Written by Raymond Tay on June 24, 2010 – 6:51 am -

I have come across this new theory of motivation regarding to monetary rewards previously. It really surprised me and changed my views about motivating people and getting the creativity out from individuals. This video put it in a very creative & interesting manner (letting us becoming kids again). I find that the 3 Factors that Lead to Better Performance & Personal Satisfaction are extremely useful:

  • AUTONOMY
  • MASTERY
  • PURPOSE

Do You Choose to Reverse It?

Written by Raymond Tay on June 16, 2010 – 11:49 am -

This short video has shocked me as it showed how words can be reversed to reveal different meaning. If you let the world decide who you are, then you will be one of the crowds (be it good or bad). Once you choose to take control, your life will be different!!

Being Grateful in Mandarin

Written by Raymond Tay on January 17, 2010 – 4:46 am -

It’s not my usual practice to put in other languages for my post, but I think it is a good reminder for Chinese people to learn to be grateful. Personally, I enjoy these short scripts:

Wanting to Write On Your Wall?

Written by Raymond Tay on December 29, 2009 – 11:12 am -

This business idea is really creative and solves our writing problem (esp. those who love to vandalize walls). My room has a whiteboard and I’ve almost stopped writing anything on it. Cz if I leave the writing too long, I’ll have a hard time to erase it. Just put a few reminders & posters only. After seeing this, I almost have the urge to purchase this paint and start transforming my entire 4 walls. I think this paint is much better quality than my whiteboard. As an educator, I feel connected with the teaching tools and I believe it can spur the creativity & innovation in many people.

IdeaPaint is created by three Babson College graduates and it dries to create a surface that any dry-erase marker can wipe it clean. Presently, this paint sells for $3.50 to $4.00 per square foot of coating. Any simple idea can turn out to be a profitable biz idea!!

The Earth is signalling something to everybody and we need to be grateful and minimize our wastage as much as possible in order for our next generation is continue to live. Global Knowledge

Written by Raymond Tay on October 25, 2009 – 10:42 am -

Where to learn more about the World faster? Just a few videos away I guarantee you’ll discover facts & opinions about many countries. As I’m a Singaporean, I’ll feel naturally connected to listen to our country’s Founding Father & Minister Mentor, Lee Kuan Yew. He spoke about the New Global Order (hosted by Charlie Rose) and the more I watch, the more I am interested to hear what he’s going to say. What Type of Life Do You Want?

Written by Raymond Tay on September 25, 2009 – 7:48 pm -

What is the ultimate outcome you want to see in life? Can it accomplished right now?

Here is an interesting story to answer the above qns:

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen
on the quality of their fish and asked
how long it took him to catch them.

“Not very long.” they answered in unison.

“Why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more?”

The fishermen explained that their small catches were
sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.

“But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

“We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children,
and take siestas with our wives.
In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends,
have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.

We have a full life.”

The tourist interrupted,

“I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!
You should start by fishing longer every day.
You can then sell the extra fish you catch.
With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.”

“And after that?”

“With the extra money the larger boat will bring,
you can buy a second one and a third one
and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man,
you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants
and maybe even open your own plant.

You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City ,
Los Angeles , or even New York City !

From there you can direct your huge new enterprise.”

“How long would that take?”

“Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years.” replied the tourist.

“And after that?”

“Afterwards? Well my friend, that’s when it gets really interesting, ”
answered the tourist, laughing. “When your business gets really big,
you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!”

“Millions? Really? And after that?” asked the fishermen.

“After that you’ll be able to retire,
live in a tiny village near the coast,
sleep late, play with your children,
catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife
and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends.”

“That’s what I am doing now” Replied the fisherman

And the moral of this story is:

“Know where you’re going in life…. you may already be there!!”

My takeaway from this story is “Love what you do and be grateful of what you have.

Creative Words on *preneur

Written by Raymond Tay on July 13, 2009 – 9:44 am -

2rrl5ph

This newspaper article has struck me to write this post about “preneur” as it talked about “Celebrepreneur“. My first time encountered this word. Although I had known some of the celebrities who started their own business, I didn’t know there can be this creative word of descibing them. I am wondering how many types of entrepreneur can there be. Let me list them out:

  • Social Entrepreneur: Society’s change agent; pioneer of innovations that benefit humanity.
  • Infopreneur: Selling information (incl. internet entrepreneur, blogpreneur)
  • IntrapreneurA person in a corporation who is given the freedom and resources to initiate products, business ventures. (e.g. network marketing)
  • Celebrepreneur: A celebrity who starts a biz.
  • Talentpreneur: One who has developed his/her talent into a successful business.
  • TechnopreneurMaking use of the commercial applications of science and technology..
  • Actionpreneur: Someone who makes things happen.

So would you like to become one of them?

Do you know any more *preneurs? Can write in your comments.

  4. Be Competent.
  5. Be Communicative.
  6. Be Consistent.
  7. Be Committed.
  8. Be Calm. (contributed by VM)
  9. Be Caring. (contributed by VM)
  10. Be Charismatic. (contributed by VM)
  11. Be the Change.

Do you have any other beautiful words starting with “C” to add to my list? Can send me your comments. Thank you.

Hidden Messages from Water

Written by Raymond Tay on October 18, 2008 – 9:22 am -

We have always been taught to stay positive and saying all the good things to ourselves and others. Today, I have learnt about an AMAZING Water Crystal research that was done by Dr. Masaru Emoto reaffirms the significant impact of our thoughts & feelings (even the words we use). He had discovered that water crystals will form when they are frozen and their molecular shapes will change with the different focused intentions through written, spoken words and music. Everything in life has energy or vibrations (incl. words and pictures) and they can affect the molecular structures of the water. Therefore, water not only has the ability to visually reflect the environment but it also molecularly reflects the environment. Below are some of the miraculous photos on the water crystals:

Sanbu-ichi Yusui Spring water         Beethoven’s Pastorale              Polluted Water

Fujiwara Dam,                                 Fujiwara Dam,
before offering a prayer               after offering a prayer

You Make Me Sick, I Will Kill You             Thank You                 Love and Appreciation

Here is a video relating to this research:

We really need to be consciously aware of what we think, say, and look. We can also help others by giving them our blessing and encouragement. May LOVE and GRATITUDE be with you.
